On FC Mobile the VS Attack mode is a historic mode, it was in fact the first multiplayer mode in the first edition of the game in 2017. Over the years it has changed a lot but, being a long-time player, I still consider it my favorite game mode.

Before we delve into this guide, I would like to make a premise. Although I am sure that there are many players better than me, I consider myself a good player of this mode, obtaining this season also the Top 250 logo. This is evidence that what I am about to write is also the result of a lot of gaming experience.

DIVISION RIVALS

To play this mode on FC Mobile you will need to go to the Division Rivals menu and choose the VS Attack mode.

It is a game mode similar to the Head to Head mode, with real-time matches and fans to accumulate to advance in the ranking. What changes between these two modes is the gameplay. The VS Attack mode is in fact a dynamic and fast mode, in which we will play only some scenarios of the match.

GAMEPLAY

On FC Mobile, in VS Attack mode, we will have around 10-15 chances (depending on our playing speed and our skill) to score more goals than our opponent.

The distribution of chances is based on the difference in OVR, although it can sometimes be random, and can be of three types: great chances, good chances and basic chances. But how are these chances distributed? The game distributes a deck of 10 chances, at the end of which a new deck of 10 chances is distributed.

It may seem like a balanced system, but it is not. In fact, the distribution of chances is random, which means that after completing the first deck of 10 chances, we could get other good and basic chances (the first chances of the new deck), while our opponent could get great and good chances. This system can sometimes determine the outcome of the match.

SCENARIOS

Contrary to what you might think, in this game mode the gameplay is unique. This means that between one formation and another the only thing that changes are the players that we will use.

This gameplay mode has also been confirmed by the developers of FC Mobile. For this reason, it is therefore important to choose the right formation and the right players to face each scenario.

GAME CONTROLS

As you may have seen from the previous images, I prefer to play with the buttons enabled. There is no real method to play this mode, also because, being a fast and dynamic game mode, we often play by automatism. So keep your style and your game controls and try to practice.

BECOME A PRO PLAYER

If you started reading this guide, you certainly weren't looking for information you already knew, but you wanted advice on how to improve your gameplay. Continue reading this guide and I will try to help you improve in this mode.

FORMATIONS

For this mode there is no single good formation, all formations are good, what you need is to have the right players in the right place. Knowing that the gameplay is unique with all formations, and therefore the only variation was in which players I would use in certain scenarios, my choice fell on 352.

This is the formation I currently use for VS Attack mode, but don't look at it too much, I make a lot of changes to test the players and it will probably be changed in a few weeks.

I showed it to you to explain which players are used in both the defensive and offensive phases.

OFFENSIVE PHASE

Mainly, with almost all formations, offensive players (LW, CAM, ST, RW, AT) are used in central chances. The problem arises in lateral chances. In formations with 4 or 5 defenders we will often use our full-backs, while in formations with 3 defenders we will use our midfield wings.

This information alone should be enough for you to understand whether, in a dynamic and fast mode like VS Attack mode, it is better to make a shot on goal or a pass with a LM or RM, or with a RB or LB. Obviously there are full-backs who are good in the offensive phase, but the problem would then be the defensive phase.

You are free to choose the formation you prefer, but personally I preferred the 352 because it allows me to have better players in the defensive phase and also better players in the offensive phase.

DEFENSIVE PHASE

In all formations, in VS Attack mode, mainly 3 players defend. In defenses with 3 defenders, they will be the 3 center backs, while in defenses with 4 or 5 defenders, they will be the right back (right wing back for defenses with 5 defenders) and the 2 center backs (the center back and the right center back in defenses with 5 defenders).

This difference in defense can have advantages or disadvantages. Center backs are notoriously slow, but have great defensive stats, while right backs are mostly very fast and have good defensive stats. Personally, I prefer my center backs to defend, so that I have better offensive players.

THE CHOICE

I will probably dedicate other guides to deepen the two phases of the game but, in the VS Attack mode, if you have the right players you will be able to have a good defensive phase with all the formations. Differently, in the offensive phase, only the right formation will allow you to have greater speed and accuracy in shots and passes and therefore in the realization of a greater number of goals.

In FC Mobile, in VS Attack mode, it is important not to concede goals, but it is equally important to score as many goals as possible.

GOALKEEPER

We'll get into the other players' choices later, but let's focus on the goalkeeper for now. This is probably the main position in VS Attack mode. The reason? Because sometimes even a single save can waste a lot of time, and in this mode every second is worth gold.

This is my choice, Casteels OVR 101 Anniversary event. For this position I always suggest maximum training. For his choice I refer you to my guide on how to choose the goalkeeper or possibly to the ranking for this position.

DEFENDERS

Also for the choice of defenders I refer you either to the guide on how to choose defenders or directly to the guide with all the rankings for each position. For this mode the Dives into Tackles trait and high values in the reactions and awareness attributes are recommended. They will allow you to have defenders always ready and attentive in the defensive phase.

FULL-BACKS

If you have chosen a formation with 4 or 5 defenders, make sure that the right back or the line wing back are good in the defensive phase, but at the same time make sure that they are equally good in the offensive phase. The left back is rarely used in the defensive phase, only in the basic chances of our opponent, so focus on his offensive phase.

OFFENSIVE PLAYERS

For the choice of offensive players I refer you to the guides for the choice of midfielders and attackers. An in-depth guide would be necessary, but in general, in this mode, what matters a lot is the weak foot.

The reason why the weak foot is important is because, in a fast and dynamic mode, where time is of the essence, it is important not to waste too much time trying to make a pass or a shot with the ideal foot.

WEAK FOOT

In an ideal situation, with an unlimited budget and a lot of choice of players, my choice would fall only on players with 5 stars weak foot. This would allow me to shoot and pass very quickly and very accurately. Unfortunately sometimes we are not in the condition to choose the ideal solution, so we have to make some evaluations.

For the forwards, I personally recommend only players with 5 weak feet. It will be essential and you will no longer have to worry about dosing the power of your shot. For the wingers and for the center-half, evaluate based on their side of action.

Mainly choose left midfielders and left center midfielders with the right foot as the preferred foot, and the left foot for the other side of the field.

The choice is motivated by the fact that in VS Attack mode, often in lateral scenarios, we will need to move centrally and make a finesse shot.

RANK E TRAINING

Of course, if I had an unlimited budget, I would go for a completely level 30 team with orange ranks, but I am a F2P player so I try to balance the team. Currently, as you may have already seen, I use a setup with the goalkeeper at level 30 and everything else in the team at level 25. Optionally, if you have the possibility, try to add level 30 in the key defensive and offensive positions as well.

SKILL MOVE

There are many functional skill moves for this mode but my favorite is the Lane Chance. It is probably the skill move that I use the most, I use it as a custom skill move, so you just have to choose players with a minimum of 4 stars skill moves and enable it in the dedicated menu.

Roulette is also a good skill move. But if you are trying to improve your gameplay in this mode, try to use a few skill moves so that you can automate your gameplay. Only with practice will you be able to handle several skill moves at the same time.

AUTOMATIONS

On FC Mobile, VS Attack is a mode where you don't need a beautiful or overly elaborate play. It's a mode where in the long run you'll have to learn all the chances by heart. Try to always make the same play if you see that it works and above all if you can be fast.

Avoid desperate crosses, too many passes or acrobatic goals. It's a fast mode where speed and fingertip skill count.

PASSING

Before getting into pro player passing, there are many guides available, try to find a style of play that is all your own. The suggestion, especially in lateral chances, is to make through passes almost at maximum power, then trying to anticipate the shot with your attacker.

I will probably post some video tutorials on my Twitter channel in the future, because a video is worth a thousand words.

BORING CHANCES

During VS Attack matches there will surely be scenarios where you just can't score, scenarios where you waste a lot of time. There is a solution to this problem. What you have to do, I do it too in some situations, is not to waste time and immediately throw the ball out. In this way you will only lose a few seconds and a new chance will start.

CONCLUSIONS

Writing a guide for a game mode, where there are so many factors that can influence it, is never easy, especially if the visual component (video tutorial) is missing. I will try to expand this guide in the future and make changes. Check my Twitter page for video tutorials and leave me feedback on which aspect of this mode you would like to learn more about.
